Lake life, nature and Italian summer atmosphere on Lake Maggiore
Oggebbio is a small, cozy town on Lake Maggiore where you'll find peace, nature and authentic Italian charm. The town offers four restaurants and a small grocery store within walking distance, and just 10 km away is the port town of Verbania with several shops, cafés and a lively harbor environment.
Here you are close to both nature and culture. The Val Grande National Park, Italy's largest wilderness area, lies just behind Oggebbio and offers beautiful hikes. The lake is perfect for boating, water sports and swimming, and a visit to the famous Borromean Islands with their impressive palaces and gardens is an experience not to be missed. For golf enthusiasts, there are four courses in the area, including the Golf Club des Iles Borromees at Stresa.
About the apartment
The apartment is located on the sixth floor of a holiday complex and is spread over two floors. There are three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a living room. The smallest room on the first floor has two single beds that are currently joined together as a double bed. From the living room there is access to a balcony with stunning views of Lake Maggiore.
The accommodation has both a washing machine and dishwasher, so you can easily wash clothes and make everyday life easier during your vacation.
Please note that there are many stairs outside the building, making the apartment less suitable for people with walking difficulties. However, there is an elevator inside the building to the sixth floor.
Guests of the complex have access to a number of shared facilities: a beautiful botanical garden, two swimming pools, two tennis courts and a historic mansion with bar, billiards, common rooms and space for games and socializing. (Pools are open from June 1 to the third Sunday in September).
Location and transportation
The nearest airports are Milan Malpensa (approx. 1 hour and 15 minutes) and Lugano Airport (approx. 1.5 hours). We recommend renting a car as it gives you the most freedom to explore both Lake Maggiore and the surrounding towns.
Practical information
- 140 euros for final cleaning is payable in cash locally and includes linen and towels.
- Consumption is charged at DKK 21 per person per day and is automatically added to the price. Remember to state the correct number of people when booking.

The apartment is located in a beautiful area with its own recreational area by the lake and with a cozy little town up a staircase just behind the residential complex, from where there are several hiking routes. Groceries can be bought in the small kiosk in town, and the restaurant has a lovely terrace overlooking the lake.
The apartment has a fantastic view of the lake and by car there are a number of attractions in the area.
We visited Oggebio for the second time and it was just as magnificent as our first vacation here. We were six adults in the apartment and there was plenty of space for everyone. The view from the balcony is unique. Well-equipped kitchen and good beds. By the lake is the most beautiful pool, table tennis and tennis courts. We brought paddleboards and sailed on the beautiful lake, which we also often swam in. There are a couple of nice restaurants within walking distance, and we shopped at the small grocery store. There is a market in the neighboring towns; Verbania on Saturday and Cannobio on Sunday. (It can be difficult to find parking)
We will definitely come back for the view, the lake and the friendly people in Oggebio.
Lovely views and plenty of space. We enjoyed the pool and lake bathing and played tennis several times. It was easy to book onto one of the two courts (clay and artificial grass) on a list in the gatehouse. We will gladly come again. Next time we will bring SUP/paddleboards, as there is the possibility of "parking" boards down by the lake. Good trips also to the glacier at Macugnaga (1.5 hours) and the viewpoint in the hinterland above Cannero (0.5 hours - visit restaurant Usignolo on the way down)
Really nice large apartment with a pretty amazing view. The place and the area are not for the disabled and a car is a must to get around the many small towns along the lake. Shopping can be done in Verbania (Esselunga) which is a "Bilka department store" just as there are many specialty shops in most small towns. "Must see's are Stresa and the Borromean Islands, Villa Tanranto and a local market - possibly in Cannobio.

Very narrow roads and many stairs to the home.
Cozy little bar above the home, as well as a good and cheap pizzeria.
Our third visit to the apartment. This time we "found" two new good restaurants, in addition to the one above the stairs up to the city.
Ristorante Pizzeria Lago located on Visa Nazionale within walking distance from the apartment (serves both fish, meat and pizza)
I Filari - Ristorante Piemontese located in Ghiffa. Great food and fantastic red wine from their own vineyard, sold out of the house for 7€ / 14€ in restaurant. The winery can be visited - located close to Alessandria.

Lovely apartment in a great location. Also nice is the pool area by the lake. The lake that has clean water is suitable for swimming. It is a must to have a car.

Excellent Pizzeria "in the backyard" with fine food at reasonable prices.
Minuses:
Many many stairs (and the elevator did not work every day).
Poor access conditions and mega winding road up to the apartment.
Overall:
You need a car to get the best out of your stay.
Good hiking routes nearby. (check route before you start, as signage is inadequate).
Do the big food shopping in the neighboring towns, as the small grease shop in town overcharges and provides relatively poor customer service.

We have enjoyed the view, the location and the apartment
Fantastic beautiful views. A large balcony you can really hang out on. Air conditioning or some form of cooling in the summer would be a plus. Small grocery store and view restaurant on the road behind the house. If you want more city life, cafes and shops, you have to start the car and visit the nearest town of Verbania.
Once you have passed the busy main road, you come to the beautiful pool and lake area with many beautiful hydrangeas that belong to the apartment. There is a small playground, table tennis table, vending machine with hot and cold drinks, changing room with shower and lovely sun loungers.
A nice and large holiday apartment with a fantastic view, just like the picture. Plenty of stairs to get up to the building with the apartment and it's a long way down to the swimming pool and jetty area, where you also have to cross a busy road along the way. Charming urban area just behind the apartment (including a good pizzeria), and if you continue up and through the town, you can also find some great hiking routes.
Very nice apartment in a good location. The view from the terrace is phenomenal and the good chairs/cushions on the terrace are a big plus. Lovely pool area/garden by the lake, where the tennis courts are also located.
